Hi Squash Supporter First of all I would like to thank you very much for your signature and your support in this case, there is a burning question which supports the minds and thoughts of us all, which is; “what are the future plans for our squash community?” Within a week of this petition being up online over a 100 names were signed in support of this cause. With the court expansion petition it would be fair to say the question is asked to the Westway Trust and new management partners Everyone Active, what are their future plans of the sports club due to the believe the squash courts would certainly deserve development from their huge investment. I would like to think you agree, but as a squash community we would appreciate more courts within the same venue where possible. The squash courts and Gym go hand in hand, one helping out the other and the other bringing a sense of fun to the word fitness. These squash courts have been here for nearly five decades and still going strong, the success of connecting a community of people from many different nationalities, young and old is a great testament to this sport and club. So if the courts could remain here with an additional court and more viewing gallery space added, then we would be extremely grateful. If, however in the worst case scenario the courts were in jeopardy of disappearing from the club without saving them, then and only then would four new additional squash courts at our sister club would be an option. We, I and seven other squash members who I think represented the diverse membership of the club put all these points to the Westway Trust director of sport, Stephen Wren and a Everyone Active executive, Alison Norman. This was a meeting asked to be arranged by the Trust CEO, Angela McConville. At the meeting last week it was understood they were very impressed with the passion and determination for our sport and wanted to meet again for more discussions early on in 2017. This was very much welcomed to meet the development makers and all was happy for further discussions, but, concerns are still prevalent, so we still reserve the right to be apprehensive. I wish I could say more but at this moment this is where the situation stands, I wanted to update you in our plight, if further good or bad news arises then I’ll inform ASAP….!!! In the meantime, if you are interested in attending the Westway Trust Annual General Meeting, it’s taking place on Wednesday 14th December 2016 at, Bevington Primary School, Bevington Road, W10 5TW from 7pm. This AGM will give you some extra information about the Trust future plans in all it’s development, if you anything you may wish to say or add then please attend. Many thanks. Until next time, keep on Squashing…!!! Michael Phillips Squash Supporter and Organiser
