The family and friends of Juston Root are teaming up with Mass Action Against Police Brutality on Friday Feb 26th at 4pm at the MA State House (BOSTON, MA). (outdoors, large space for social distancing) Join us if you live locally!
We will call upon Governor Charlie Baker and Attorney General Maura Healey to appoint an independent investigation into the police killing of Juston by 5 Boston Police officers and 1 MA State Trooper on Feb 7th 2020.
We will then march to Attorney General Maura Healey's office to demand that she take action. There we will present a petition with over 10,000 signatures demanding an independent investigation. To date both Governor Baker and the Attorney General have failed to take action.
We ask AG Healey to do something she has the power to do--to reopen Juston's case, which Norfolk District Attorney Michael Morrissey rushed to close in just 30 days after the killing. Evidence and facts were ignored and are missing from Morrissey's report. This is unacceptable and the opposite of transparent.
The Root family and the Public deserve the #TRUTH!
We deserve the whole truth so that those responsible can be held accountable, and so this tragedy does not happen to another family.
The Root family and others will be speaking to the public and the press at this event. Raise your voice for Justice for Juston!
We are left with this important question:
When the truth may be inconvenient where are the leaders of our state and city governments?
