The Issue

Pickleball is booming across the country and Gilroy deserves a space to join the movement!

For years, residents have advocated for access to pickleball—attending city meetings, speaking with officials, and even painting temporary lines at community parks. Meanwhile, neighboring cities like Morgan Hill, Hollister, San Jose, and Sunnyvale have all invested in dedicated pickleball facilities, leaving Gilroy behind.

The Parks & Recreation Commission has already identified this initiative as a high-priority item in its 2025–2026 Work Plan and submitted a formal budget request to make it a reality.

This proposal envisions:

  • 4 purpose-built pickleball courts at Las Animas Park
  • Fencing, lighting, seating, and shaded areas
  • ADA-compliant pathways and landscaping
  • A welcoming space for all ages and abilities

Pickleball isn’t just a sport, it’s a powerful tool for promoting health, community connection, and fun for all generations. Adding dedicated courts will enhance recreational opportunities, improve quality of life, and help Gilroy keep pace with neighboring communities.

🗣️ Let’s show city leadership how much this matters. Sign and share to support bringing pickleball to Gilroy because every community deserves a place to play.
