‘Save Our Children’ It can be prevented! Family’s lives are destroyed!

The issue

My name is Stacey-Anne, and My son Brayden was a vibrant 23-year-old, full of life and dreams until Meningococcal B cut his life short in a matter of hours.

On November 17, 2022, Brayden came home from a game of touch footy, feeling slightly unwell. By the next evening, he was brain-dead. I don't want any other family to go through this unimaginable pain. I am calling on the New South Wales Government to fund the Meningococcal B vaccine.

South Australia and Queensland have already taken the crucial step of funding this life-saving vaccine, but New South Wales lags behind. Last year, our state saw 32 cases of Meningococcal B, and this year we're already at 25. This is not just a statistic; these are lives hanging in the balance.

Brayden thought he was protected; he had received the Meningococcal ACWY vaccine like many others. But what we didn't know was that this vaccine does not cover the deadly Meningococcal B strain. We cannot let this severe oversight continue.

In collaboration with the Meningitis Centre Australia, I have launched the "B the Change for Brayden" campaign. We are demanding that the New South Wales Government include the Meningococcal B vaccine in the state's immunisation program. Parents have a right to believe that when their child is vaccinated, they are protected against all strains of this deadly disease. It's time for the government to step up and protect its youngest and most vulnerable citizens.

Let's honour Brayden's memory by ensuring that no other family has to endure this kind of loss. We can 'B the Change for Brayden'. Please sign and share my campaign - your signatures could help save lives!
