According to the United States Department of Justice, Washington, D.C., dogfighter Jaquan Jackson, 35, was busted with:

  1. one dead dog that was hanging from a fence;

  2. another dog with "extensive scarring on its head, face, and forelimbs consistent with dogfighting";

  3. a break stick;

  4. a slat mill;

  5. neck weights;

  6. scales; and

  7. make-shift veterinary supplies, including horse antiseptic, fish antibiotics, medicated feed, IV bags, and a skin-stapler.

Despite ALL of this evidence, "The Honorable" John M. Campbell "sentenced Jackson to a total of 360 days in jail but suspended all but 90 days of that time on the condition that he successfully complete five years of probation," the DOJ reported.

This is a list of people involved in busting and prosecuting Jackson:

  1. the Humane Rescue Alliance;
  2. the Metropolitan Police Department;
  3. the U.S. Attorney’s Office, including Paralegal Specialist Sabrina Hudgens and Wanda Trice and Victim/Witness Coordinator Maenylie Watson
  4. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Emmanuel Hampton and Matthew Goldstein, who prosecuted the case; and
  5. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Monica Dolin, Stephanie Dinan, and Noah Simmons and former Assistant U.S. Attorney Seth Gilmore, who assisted in the investigation and prosecution of the case.

The trial lasted three days.

As I said in my petition, people in law enforcement have no incentive to spend months or years trying to bust dogfighters when judges like John M. Campbell, who was appointed to a 15-year term by Bill Clinton and another 15-year term by Barack Obama, continue to give dogfighters a slap on the wrist. Campbell not only shows why we need a lengthy mandatory minimum sentence for dogfighters but why we also need term limits for judges. Please share this petition with family, friends, coworkers, neighbors and social media community groups to help warn people about what's happening to cats, kittens, dogs, rabbits and other animals being "rehomed" via Craigslist, Facebook, Next Door and other apps.
