First of all, I want to thank you all so much for your incredible determination and compassion in the face of such a horrific case of animal cruelty.
Right now, Kaavan still urgently needs your help. The CDA, the authorities in charge of Kaavan, still refuse to let this neglected elephant go to a sanctuary. Initially, the CDA had released a statement that they would unchain Kaavan, but an investigation of the Marghazar Zoo from The Express Tribune has found that the CDA has gone back on their word, and Kaavan remains chained and alone in his tiny pen.
What you can do to help Kaavan:
1.) Share Kaavan's story over all your social media. Go to your twitter, instagram, facebook and upload a picture holding a #freeKaavan sign and tag it #freeKaavan! If you know anyone in the media, ask them to consider covering Kaavan's story. The more people the CDA knows are watching, the more pressure they will feel to release Kaavan. Shout Kaavan's name from the rooftops!
2.) Email and call the CDA and Prime Minister to persuade them to let Kaavan go, you can find a template email to send on our facebook- https://www.facebook.com/kaavantheelephant?fref=photo
CDA Tel: +92-51-9253003/220
CDA Email: chairman@cda.gov.pk
CDA facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/DMACDAISL?fref=ts
Prime Minister:
Email:betterpakistan@gmail.com
Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/pml.n.official?nr&__mref=message_bubble
3.) If you are in the Islamabad area, or know anyone who is, and please boycott the zoo! The less profit Kaavan's misery makes for the CDA, the more likely they will be to let him go to sanctuary.
Follow Kaavan on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/kaavantheelephant
For more recent photos of Kaavan, updates, and ways to support this poor elephant!
Please continue to fight for Kaavan, your voice is urgently needed now more than ever! Especially since the CDA and Marghazar Zoo are looking to profit off of TWO more elephants, whom they are trying to get a permit to ship from Sri Lanka. This zoo has already proven they cannot handle the management of one elephant, let alone three. We need to persuade them to phase out their elephant exhibit before we have two more elephants stolen from the wild and neglected in chains.
Thank you again for your incredible support, empathy, and love for Kaavan,
Samar
