HELP Free an Innocent Unfairly Prosecuted Man from Prison

The Issue

Kehinde Wofford was sentenced to 90 years in prison after a extremely unjust trial for a murder he did not commit.

As reported Wofford has always maintained his innocence. Without a retrial the earliest he can expect to be released from prison is 2069 when he will be 93 years old.

“Wofford murder conviction hedged on two pieces of evidence; Coerced statements and testimonies from known convicted felons. According to affidavits, court house, transcripts, letters and internal memos, the officers involved in the case  Lt. James Tolbert and Sgt. Michael Russell from the Detroit police department is known for coercing and falsifying documents to win convictions. “

The Wayne county prosecuting office has release a list with many of the DPD officers listed who have been deemed unfit to testify in court for lying and bribery.  James Tolbert (false statements) and Michael Russell (false statement) both are on that list, the two lead officers in Wofford’s case.

It’s time to hold these officers accountable for their action, and we need your help to allow a man who has been silenced 16 years for a crime he did not commit. Please be a big part of a innocent man returning home to his family.

Why is this so important?

Kehinde Wofford was imprisoned case number:  06-002236-01 with his co-defendants Javon Sly and Gerald Hill according to court transcripts and police reports they were threatened and promised leniency by police into pinning the crime on Wofford. Hill stated he was pressured multiple times by Sgt. Russell to testify against Wofford in court. After being coerced to write the statement Hill tried to correct his statement against Wofford’s involvement but it was overturned by the Police Officers, Prosecutor, Lawyer and the Judge never allowing Wofford a fair trial.  J. Sly, G. Hill ,  falsified police document and false witness statements were enough to convict Wofford to a maximum of 90 years by a jury with no evidence, DNA or murder weapon to prove his innocence.

These officers used these unjust tactics to implicate Mr. Wofford in a crime that had, no evidence of his involvement.

Wofford's 4th, 6th, and 14th Amendment Rights to a fair trial were violated.

After many years of fighting for his freedom there is finally a chance for these corrupt officers and officials to be held accountable for their wrong doing when it comes to the imprisonment of Kehinde Wofford for a crime he did not commit.

The Wayne county prosecuting office has released a list with many", "it's time to hold those officers for their actions", "falsified police documents and false witness statements were enough" & "Lt. James Tolbert and Sgt. Michael Russell who were involved in his case have resigned from DPD and Lt. Tolbert was later fired from Highland Park Police Department due to the public protesting"

Now after sixteen years of fighting to prove his innocence, Kehinde Wofford has a renewed hope. Compounding all the abuse Kehinde has suffered immensely at the hand of a broken criminal justice system. He now needs your help to affirm his innocence.

PLEASE ITS TIME TO STAND FOR WHAT’S RIGHT AND GIVE A INNOCENT MAN HIS FREEDOM BACK.

In the case of The People of the State of Michigan vs. Kehinde Wofford there is clear and convincing new evidence that the convicted defendant was not the person who committed the conviction offense. In accordance with Rule 3.8(h), it is the duty of the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office to investigate and reverse the conviction of Kehinde Wofford.

As stated in the American Bar Association standards, Rule 3.8(h), "When a prosecutor knows of clear and convincing evidence establishing that a defendant in the prosecutor's jurisdiction was convicted of an offense that the defendant did not commit, the prosecutor shall seek to remedy the conviction."

Kehinde Wofford needs your help to affirm his innocence. After nearly 20 years of wrongful imprisonment, he deserves immediate justice.
