Help for children like Harrison

The Issue

I am starting this petition not just for my son, but for every child like him.

My son is 11 years old. He has autism, Crohn’s disease, epilepsy, is tube-fed, doubly incontinent, non-verbal, and has a learning disability. He has complex needs that require understanding, space, and proper medical support.

Yet every time we attend our local hospital, we are faced with the same situation — there is no appropriate room for him.

We are placed in corridors. We are squeezed into cubicles that are far too small. There is no quiet, safe, sensory-appropriate environment for a child who cannot cope with noise, chaos, or confinement.

Why is there no dedicated space for children like mine?

Children with autism and complex medical needs deserve dignity. They deserve safety. They deserve to be treated with the same urgency and care as any other child.

Just because my son cannot speak does NOT mean his needs are less important.

When a typical emergency comes in, space is found. Rooms are made available. Adjustments are made.

So why not for children like my son?

I am calling on our local hospital and NHS services to provide:

A dedicated specialist room for children with autism and complex needs

A safe, calm, sensory-appropriate environment

Enough space for medical equipment and carers

Staff awareness and understanding of behavioural and sensory needs

This is not a luxury. This is a necessity.

No child should be pushed into a corridor or left in distress because the system is not designed for them.

Please sign and share this petition to help us create change — not just for my son, but for so many families who are facing the same struggle every single day.
