Ofgem still need to review the formula

Hi all,

Thank you all for the amazing support you're showing, please do keep sharing and promoting this petition.

We're aware that the recent government intervention may make it seem like this petition is less relevant, with the cap being £2,500 going forward. But it's important that we understand that Ofgem's cap is what the suppliers will be getting paid, they'll receive £2,500 from us and the government will cover the rest. So, if the Ofgem cap does move to £6,600 in April 2023, then the government will be covering £4,100 for each household... this will need to be paid back. Whilst we currently have no details on how the government will fund this in the short term, we can be sure that at some point we'll all have to pay back the help we're receiving now.

So this petition is still important, we can limit the damage being caused by reducing the scale of pubilc debt that will be built over the next 2 years as the government covers the difference between their cap of £2,500 and the Ofgem caps.
