Growing up in this community, activities promoting life skills such as determination, coordination, teamwork, and communication have always been a prized possession. To many of us, such activities shape our character and offer opportunities to excel in life. On this premise, we are urging our community to start a colorguard program called Winterguard.

Colorguard, often referred to as the 'Sport of the Arts,' combines dance, marching, and the spinning of flags, rifles or other equiptment in a harmoniously coordinated fashion. Its derivative, Winterguard, is a version practiced indoors during the winter season hence it doesn't have to halt when the weather is harsh. By establishing this program, we will not only have a new creative outlet in our community but also a powerful tool for teaching invaluable life skills. This is often referred to as a Colorguard Offseason.

Studies have shown that participation in activities like Winterguard can significantly improve a child's coordination, teamwork, communication, and determination (source: National Association for Music Education). Given that the local community centers boast ample indoor facilities, establishing a Winterguard program is a feasible and significant step towards equipping students with these essential skills.
