18,000 Signatures, an Update, and a Rally This Saturday ❤️

Thank you to the more than 18,000 people who have signed this petition to support Divine Playhouse. Your support has been extraordinary.
Since we launched this petition, the situation has escalated. The lease for Divine Playhouse has now been terminated, and the venue has been given just days to vacate 420 Kent Street following a campaign of complaints and protests from far-right Christian extremists objecting to its creative expression.
The operators are now urgently searching for a new home. We have therefore updated this petition to call on Chris Minns, the NSW Government, the 24-Hour Economy Commissioner and the City of Sydney to provide urgent support to help Divine Playhouse relocate and continue its work as an inclusive home for artists, performers and audiences.
This Saturday, 25 July at 12pm, Divine Playhouse will hold a peaceful sing-in rally at Sydney’s Hyde Park.
As Divine Playhouse founder Kat Dopper says:
“This Saturday’s rally isn't just about one venue. It's about the future of arts and culture in New South Wales and who gets to decide it. They can sing? Well we can sing louder. Divine will rise again.”
If you can, please join us — and continue sharing this petition so we can show the NSW Government and the City of Sydney just how much support there is for Divine Playhouse and for a vibrant, inclusive arts and cultural scene.
A fundraiser to support legal costs and losses has raised over $40,000. Read Divine's latest statement and find other ways you can help HERE.
