Her child said she was being hurt. 

The courts continued to give him access to their child despite the allegations. 

She fled. 

No mother ever wants to imagine her child being harmed, especially by their father. This is the exact position that Dani found herself in.

Danielle Wooldridge is a loving mother of 2, an artist, and a beloved member of her community. She had created a beautiful life for herself in Los Angeles. Dani, a black mother, had a responsibility to not only believe her child, but to follow through with investigations and claims around the accusations that came about to protect her child from her ex-ex-boyfriend & father of her child, a white man.

Race is not an issue until it is.

This man is not legally allowed to be alone around his child, to this day. Yet, he was given full custody after Dani was arrested and put in jail for protecting her child. Dani is facing up to 10 years on felony kidnapping charges because of a District Attorney who wants to make an example of her for violating a court order to let her child be around her father due to allegations of sexual assault. This is an injustice that has continued throughout our justice and legal system, where others are privileged to violate court orders and get a slap on the wrist, meanwhile, black mothers like Dani are sentenced and put in a cell. This is the case here, we are not contesting the fact that she took the law into her own hands. What we are advocating for is that the evidence regarding the allegations has not been admissible in her trial, resulting in harsh sentencing.

This man is exerting a privilege that says he can fight a mother trying to protect her child to the fullest extent of the law, while also trying to prosecute and go after her family so that he can isolate the child. He can afford that. Her natural instinct to protect her child at all costs has cost her everything.

Her oldest daughter is being neglected by the same system that is criminalizing Dani, and she CAN NOT take care of this child, or fight for her other child's safety in prison. 

She's facing 10 years in Prison with bail set at 1 million dollars, all FOR PROTECTING HER CHILD. 

On April 28, 2023 Dani’s fate will be decided. Should she spend 10 years in prison for doing everything in her power to protect her daughter from alleged abuse? Would it have been better if she just ignored her daughter's claims? Should she lose her children and access to them for fleeing with her daughter who has since been given over to the accused? Should her family be given no chance to take care of her teenage daughter, 13, who is innocent in the situation but lost to foster care?

We are creating this petition to #standwithdani and help her and her family fight for her children. We urge the authorities to act with compassion and reason, and to take into account the impact of their decisions on the lives of innocent children.

The impartiality of the ADA is in question as they seem to be disregarding key evidence and only considering the fact that Dani left, without considering why she had to take that action. This one-sided approach is not how a fair trial should be conducted, where both sides should be heard in an unbiased manner. Currently, only the accuser is being given a platform to present their claims, which is unfair and biased.

We also urgently request a judge capable of listening to both sides, one who will accept all information regarding the child’s testimony, and allow this to be admitted into the case to show why Dani felt her child was in danger. This evidence is crucial in proving Dani's innocence and protecting her child. 

We urge the criminal defense lawyer to be more assertive in securing her release, or she needs to be able to find a new lawyer as the current situation is putting her life at risk. 

Furthermore, we plead for your assistance in helping Dani's oldest child be released from foster care and returned to her loving and capable family. No child should be forced to live away from their family, especially when there are no valid reasons to keep them apart. A family court advocate must fight for her in parallel with the criminal defense attorney. The case that led to the oldest child being placed in The Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services, and the youngest being placed with the accuser and his wife should be reopened and investigated to determine why both of the children haven't been placed with safe family members.

Lastly, we ask for justice to be served and all accusations against Dani to be recused. We urge for reunification between Dani and her youngest daughter, so they can be reunited and begin to heal from the trauma they have endured. Every child deserves to grow up in a safe and nurturing environment, and every parent deserves the right to protect their child from harm without being criminalized for it. We cannot turn a blind eye to this injustice.

Dani is facing a long legal battle ahead of her on multiple fronts. Your signature can help raise awareness of this grave injustice and bring attention to the systemic failures within our justice system when it comes to protecting children and parents fighting for their safety. The biases that exist within the system have led to Dani, being punished for protecting her child from alleged harm, and prevents her from continuing to pursue those allegations every day. Every signature counts, and we believe that by joining together, we can make a difference in Dani's case. We want to send a clear message to those in power that this situation demands attention and action.

Dani needs us. Her daughters need us. She has displayed a strength that cannot be explained. She is tired, her spirit is broken, and she is not being heard, so we will stand and speak for her. #standingwithdani
