Why this petition matters

Started by Danielle Bosket

Willie Bosket Jr. was wrongfully considered a habitual offender and has spent the last 37 years of his life in solitary confinement.  He has integrated in general population but he has no hope for a tomorrow. Please help give him hope back.

Willie Bosket was a child genius who knew the world he lived in was wrong. He lived in Squalor with very little of everything. He hadn’t any positive role models and he hadn’t ever seen a glimpse of hope. He was sodimized, ignored and  was punished when he lashed out in pain. He eventually became numb, angry and dead inside. He turned to violent crimes including murder as a juvenile.

New York States Public and Government became outraged at his actions and determined that the laws needed to be changed. They manipulated the law in effort to keep him in prison unlawfully eliciting the response they wanted to keep him in jail til death. They reformed the laws and now all children can be charged as adults.

Shortly after his release, Willie got married and was finally looking forward to living life. He got into an altercation with a neighbor in the building and the justice system used that altercation to crucify him. Despite Willie only being guilty of menacing, he was given 3-7 yrs. for attempted assault. Willie who had no issues with carrying out any actions before, now was not capable of assault but only an attempt. Not true at all. He was set up.

An enraged Willie Bosket while incarcerated for a crime he didn’t commit racked up 2 additional assault charges and Arson. Two were D felonies and one an E felony. None that carried more than a maximum sentence of 7 years. Instead he received 3 life sentences.

Our government failed him. From age 7 til today Willie was raised in facilities and was punished for his misbehaving. He’s spent only 2 yrs and 100 days to be exact a free person since age 7. No one ever tried to rehabilitate him, love him or really guide him. He was hated and he knew it. Every single assessment we use to predetermine the likelihood of success in a child would have been unfavorable for him. Social, economic, and biological factors for Willie all indicate this hideous outcome. We ignored it. Society wrote him off as a bad apple and didn’t consider him a human. By no means does this excuse any of his crimes or the people whom they effected. However, I am asking that we no longer ignore the fact that Wille Bosket Jr. has survived the most inhumane/illegal circumstances for over 3 decades and has never known love. Let’s show him what love is.

Til this day Willie Bosket Jr remains in prison and has spent many years self reflecting and hoping to have the opportunity to have a life and help other children to have a life . Please be the change that you want to see.

By addressing this concern, not only do we free Willie Bosket and give him the opportunity to have some semblance of a life, but we can help reform our juvenile justice system to give our children a chance at tomorrow.

Please help free Willie Bosket
