Help Chaywinn Parris get Emancipated to Leave Abusive Household

The Issue

Chaywinn Parris, (She/Her), is a troubled teen that has been struggling in her household for years, being verbally, physically, and mentally abused by her Grandparents. This abuse affects not only her mental, but physical health. She’s neglected medically, and requires help that could be given by medical providers but her Grandmother, Shawn Parris, refuses, insisting that nothing is wrong with her and will even go to the point of assaulting her for asking about it. Chaywinn has struggled with mental health issues and has self-harmed as a result of it. When discovered by her Grandmother, she would hit the cuts and scream at her and claim that she “wasn’t doing it right.” There has been CPS at the house for reports of mistreatment and every time, her Grandmother would manipulate the four children in the house, (youngest being 9-10 at the time), into lying to the case workers that nothing whatsoever was wrong. She has successfully avoided suspicion from authorities for mistreatments to her children, but for the wrong reasons. She has prioritized the three boys in the household, ranging from 17-11, and personally seeing to any desire they may have. In the process, she neglects and denies Chaywinn even the simplest of things like more than one meal a day.

Denying Chaywinn of emancipation can only lead to more damage to not only herself but people around her. The more time passes, the more threats and harm she receives from her Grandparents increases. There is no telling what will happen to Chaywinn if her life in the Parris household continues. The abuse specifically by her Grandmother will only worsen as she lives in her current home. Within immediate action, and a successful emancipation, Chaywinnn will not only have a place to live, but a proper education and job to provide for herself if needed. Her safety has already become an expanding issue as the new year turned. Chaywinn is living in fear. If she is emancipated completely without contact with her guardians/Grandparents, she will not only get the medical attention required, the proper education needed, and comfort of a supportive household.

Action needs to be taken. There is no way of surely knowing what will happen to Chaywinn if she lives in that household for any longer than she needs to. Signing this petition will help the jury and whomever may have a decision over the case that living like this any longer will most definitely affect Chaywinn’s life for the worse. Simply signing this petition will help our case. More information can be provided by email.
