Charlotte’s bridging visa has been extended for another 6 months. 

While we are incredibly grateful for this outcome, it is only a temporary solution. We will continue standing with Charlotte and hope her case receives ministerial intervention.

When I first met Charlotte, I was immediately drawn to her warm spirit and genuine kindness. Over the years, she has become one of my closest friends, always ready with a helping hand or a comforting word. Charlotte has been an integral part of our community, enriching the lives of countless others with her vibrant energy and unwavering support.

Australia has been her home since she was just a one-year-old child. Now, at the age of 27, she faces the heartbreaking prospect of having to leave by 22 September 2026. Her roots are deeply embedded in this country: she has built strong relationships, formed a community, and laid the foundations for her future studying, working, and contributing positively to society.

The thought of losing Charlotte isn’t just distressing to those of us who know and love her, but it also represents a loss to the broader community. Charlotte has always been more than just a friend and a neighbour; she’s a daughter, a colleague, and a committed member of our shared world.

We are calling on Tony Burke MP, relevant ministers, and decision-makers who can ensure that her contributions and connections to Australia are valued. Charlotte’s circumstances deserve urgent and compassionate consideration. While policies guide our immigration system, compassion and understanding ought to have a place too.

It's vital to remember that those who call Australia home — who cherish it and contribute to it — should be given a chance to remain. Charlotte's departure would not only dismantle her life as she knows it, but it would also tear away a piece of our community fabric.

Therefore, I urge you to join me in supporting this plea. Let us ensure our voices are heard in advocating for Charlotte’s right to stay in Australia, the country she knows as home. Every signature shows our solidarity and support for her case.
