Dear beautiful caring people 🧡

Thanks to your incredible support, we’ve just had a major breakthrough:
The Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed they can process background checks in just one day and begin issuing humanitarian visas for the Afghan women and their families—if two urgent conditions are met:

1. That Panahgah, the certified civil society partner in Pakistan, moves these cases to the top of their priority list

2. That we can guarantee funding for the resettlement of these families

This is the lifeline we’ve been working for. Now, the race is on to raise the necessary funds for flights and basic support upon arrival.

Please help us bring them to safety:

Every donation brings us closer to saving lives.

But the situation on the ground is getting worse.

Just this afternoon, the husband of one of the women in our group was arrested in their home in Pakistan because of the expired visa. He is now in prison. We have arranged for a lawyer, but we don’t yet know what will happen to him.

Yesterday, we shared that the very same (!) woman’s sister had already been deported. And now we must also tell you that the brother of Maria Noori, one of our leading women’s rights defenders, has also been deported to Afghanistan.

People are being taken quietly, without warning. Their fate is unknown.

This is why time is critical.
This is why your voice—and your support—matters more than ever.

With gratitude and hope,
Nadja & team
on behalf of HeartWork and the Afghan women and women’s rights defenders
