Adela BM79 is a small fishing boat based in Torbay, Devon.  Adela has been fishing for over 20 years and is passionate about providing fresh local fish to the community. However, due to outdated regulations, she is not currently allowed to sell her catch directly from the harbours.

This means that Adela has to travel further afield to sell her fish this not only adds extra costs but also increases the carbon footprint of her business.

Allowing Adela BM79 to sell fresh local fish from Torbay harbours would benefit both the community and the environment. It would provide access to locally caught seafood that is fresher and more sustainable than imported alternatives.

Furthermore, it would support small-scale fishermen like Adela who are struggling against larger commercial operations. By buying directly from local fishermen like Adela, we can help sustain traditional fishing practices and preserve our coastal heritage.

Adela BM79 successfully sold from both Brixham and Torquay pontoon for three years during COVID and looking to continue into the future. 

We urge Torbay Council and relevant authorities to review their regulations and grant permission for Adela BM79 and other small-scale fishermen in Torbay harbours to sell their catch directly from their boats.
