Hegseth: Don’t Remove Two Black and Two Female Officers From Promotion List

Hegseth: Don’t Remove Two Black and Two Female Officers From Promotion List
The Issue
Four highly qualified U.S. Army officers — including two Black officers and two women — were removed from a promotion list after years of service.
These officers had already been vetted and selected through a competitive, merit-based process. Yet their names were struck from the list in an unusual and controversial decision that has raised serious concerns inside the military.
The integrity of military promotions depends on fairness, transparency, and independence from political influence.
When qualified officers are removed without clear explanation, it risks undermining trust in a system that is meant to reward service, leadership, and sacrifice — not outside pressure.
We call on Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and the Department of Defense to:
Reinstate the removed officers to the promotion list
Provide full transparency on the decision
Protect the integrity of a merit-based military promotion system.
Sign this petition to say: our military must remain fair, apolitical, and based on merit.
