Heavy Truck ≠ Commercial Vehicle. Change the Way 'Heavy' Trucks are Defined in Ontario.

Heavy Truck ≠ Commercial Vehicle. Change the Way 'Heavy' Trucks are Defined in Ontario.
The Issue
If you own a truck weighing over 3000Kg, you know that your vehicle is instantly classified as a commercial vehicle - even though you may have no intention of using it for commercial purposes.
This leads to a horrendous $266.25 annual fee for a licence plate sticker DESPITE the government doing away with annual sticker fees for everyone else.
I believe the classification of a commercial vehicle should be defined differently. Apply only to those who DO intend on using their truck commercially.
Because you'd like to tow a camping trailer on the weekends, or just prefer to own a heavier duty truck for weekend projects does NOT mean you should be subjected to paying the same fees as someone who is using their truck to make money and support their business.
Join me in telling the Ontario Minister of Transportation, Caroline Mulroney, that we've had enough of this needless money grabbing scheme!
