Heatwave, Darkness, and Negligence: Let's Hold the RWA Accountable

Heatwave, Darkness, and Negligence: Let's Hold the RWA Accountable

The Issue

Residents of Savitry Greens, VIP Road, Zirakpur, Punjab

We find ourselves in the grip of an unprecedented crisis within our beloved community—Savitry Greens. The prolonged power outage has plunged our homes into darkness, discomfort, and uncertainty. But it's not just the heatwave that weighs on us; it's the negligence—the inexplicable silence from those who should be safeguarding our well-being.

Living Conditions During the Outage:

   - Sweltering Heat: Our homes have turned into ovens. The relentless heatwave, with temperatures soaring to 46°C, has made daily life unbearable. Our elderly residents, climbing flights of stairs without elevators, suffer the most.

   - Perishable Food Spoilage: Refrigerators lie useless, and our perishable food items have gone to waste. Families struggle to find alternatives.

   - Job Loss Threats: Some residents risk losing their jobs because they can't work from home without electricity.

   - Health Risks: Lack of fans, air conditioning, and proper ventilation poses health risks, especially for vulnerable individuals.

   - Communication Challenges: Without power, charging phones becomes a logistical nightmare. Communication breakdown exacerbates our anxiety.

Why This Petition Matters:

1. Transparency Denied: Our Resident Welfare Association (RWA) owes us transparency. Yet, their communication has been cryptic, leaving us in the dark—both literally and metaphorically. We deserve answers: What caused the outage? When will the lights come back on? Our right to know cannot be overshadowed by bureaucracy.

2. SG Sandeep Mahajan's Absence: Our RWA president, SG Sandeep Mahajan, is conspicuously absent during this crisis. Leadership requires presence, especially when residents suffer. We demand accountability from our elected representatives.

3. Durgesh Paul's Misinformation: Durgesh Paul, though available, provides wrong information and misleading ETAs. His actions have exacerbated our frustration.

4. Karamveer Bedi's Meddling: Karamveer Bedi, affiliated with the builder but not officially part of the RWA, keeps meddling in the repair process. His misguided interventions have led to false hopes and failed solutions.

5. Shoddy Repairs and Absconding: On day one, after hasty repairs to avoid public backlash, a solution failed within an hour. And where is Karamveer Bedi now? Absconded to Patiala, evading accountability only to show up again after people cooling down to repeat his cycle of misinformation.

Let's rally together, sign this petition, and demand accountability:

Respect and Inclusion: Every resident has the right to express their concerns without fear of reprisal.

Accountability: Those in positions of authority must be accountable for their actions. Kicking residents from communication channels is a breach of trust.

Constructive Dialogue: Let's foster an environment where open dialogue leads to solutions. Disagreements should be met with understanding, not exclusion.

Regular Updates: The RWA must communicate transparently. We want real-time updates on progress, setbacks, and the restoration timeline.

Emergency Meeting: We propose an emergency general body meeting where residents can voice their concerns directly.

Legal Recourse: If necessary, we'll explore legal avenues to ensure our rights are upheld.

Importantly an open discussion with NK Sharma about what the future holds for this society now that he is bored of it and doesn't even care.
