Hear the Voice of the People: We Call for Dialogue, Transparency, and Accountability
The Issue
To: The Government of India and the concerned authorities
India is the world's largest democracy. Democracy is not only about elections; it is also about listening to the voices of its citizens.
Today, many citizens across the country have expressed concerns about matters affecting the nation. Among them, Sonam Wangchuk has chosen a peaceful hunger strike to draw attention to these issues. Regardless of whether every citizen agrees with his views, peaceful protest is a constitutional right, subject to reasonable restrictions under the law, and deserves a fair and respectful response.
The Constitution of India guarantees citizens the freedom of speech and expression and the right to assemble peacefully, subject to reasonable restrictions under Article 19 of the Constitution. These rights are the foundation of a healthy democracy. When citizens raise genuine concerns through lawful and peaceful means, the government should engage in dialogue, provide transparent information, and respond in accordance with the Constitution and the rule of law.
This petition does not seek to declare anyone guilty or demand action without evidence. We believe that justice must always follow due process.
We respectfully request the Government of India to:
- Initiate meaningful dialogue with Sonam Wangchuk and other peaceful representatives to address the concerns that have been raised.
- Publicly address the concerns that have been raised and provide clear, transparent responses.
- Ensure that any allegations or grievances are examined through fair, independent, and lawful processes.
- Protect every citizen's constitutional right to peaceful protest and freedom of expression.
- Strengthen public trust by ensuring transparency, accountability, and equal application of the law.
A democracy grows stronger when governments listen to their people, even when opinions differ. Ignoring peaceful voices weakens public trust, while respectful dialogue strengthens the nation.
We sign this petition because we believe in an India where every citizen is heard, every concern is considered fairly, and every decision is guided by justice, transparency, and the Constitution.
If you believe in democracy, peaceful dialogue, transparency, and accountability, please sign and share this petition. Every peaceful voice deserves to be heard.
