The GMC is a capricious organisation and I don't think it does the public any favours. With its ex BBC journalist running its activities and Prof Tez doing his best not to trip over like his processors, the GMC has managed to skulk around looking good and in doing so, it has escaped accountability for years. I have studied the GMC from its inception onwards. Since its catastrophic decision on Dr Allinson to its efforts to scuttle around Shipman, it really hasn't improved much. With legal aid scarce, legal challenges by the public are non existent now. There is a reason Dr Allinson went off to bake bread and told the GMC where to go. Allinson bread can be purchased now at all good supermarkets and it just goes to show that not all good doctors wait for the GMC to ruin their lives. This article is a condensed version of all my knowledge on this dastardly place. One lesson to remember is this, you win at the GMC by hard work and attention to detail. Everyone using the organisation should read its rules, regulations and case law. The facts of your case must fit these directives. I have won a few presidential reviews, achieved one strike off, one warning against doctors and a few litigation successes as a junior doctor. The GMC staff will block your every attempt to seek accountability. You simply have to keep going if your case is worth it. http://helpmeinvestigate.com/health/2012/02/16/how-does-the-general-medical-council-work/
