Health for All: Free Monthly Check-ups and Medication for Hypertension in Malolos, Bulacan

The Issue

Hypertension affects millions of Filipinos, with one in four adults suffering from it, increasing their risk of heart disease, stroke, and kidney failure. Despite the growing prevalence of this disease, access to regular medical check-ups and maintenance medication remains a significant challenge, particularly for low-income individuals. Uncontrolled hypertension is a leading cause of premature deaths but can be prevented with regular monitoring and timely medication. Unfortunately, many Filipinos cannot afford consistent healthcare, forcing them to skip check-ups and medication, putting their health at serious risk.

Preventive care for hypertension will not only reduce hospitalizations but also improve community well-being, leading to a healthier and more productive society. This initiative aligns with the Universal Health Care Act (RA 11223) and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3, which aims to promote well-being for all. To address this issue, we aim to implement a Free Monthly Check-up Program for individuals diagnosed with or at risk of hypertension. We also propose providing Free Maintenance Medication, especially for marginalized communities, along with Community Health Education and Awareness Campaigns to encourage early detection and better disease management. Partnerships with Local Government Units (LGUs), Health Institutions, and Private Sectors will be established to ensure the sustainability of this program.

The "Health for All" initiative requires a PHP 750,000 annual budget for medical supplies, health check-ups, community awareness, and administrative costs. Funding will be pursued through government grants, partnerships with NGOs and pharmaceutical companies, and community-driven efforts like crowdfunding and local events to ensure the program's sustainability and expand access to vital healthcare services. You can support this cause by donating or signing this petition to advocate for accessible hypertension management. Together, we can make a difference and build a healthier, stronger community.
