The Hawkesbury Men's Shed was successful in 2019 in obtaining a Community Grant to build a new modern Men's Shed at Wilberforce on the site of the Australian Pioneer Village (land donated by the village). Since then they have been jumping through hoops like circus dogs for Hawkesbury Coucils DA approval office who keep rejecting them time after time. This grant expires soon meaning they won't be able to build their shed and I wonder why the DA is being held up ??

Whatever the reason - this red tape is causing these poor old guys no end of hassle. It's doing the opposite of what the Mens Shed was set up to do! 

I am sure in 2020 that between all the adults they can make this happen but a brick wall has been thrown up and these guys have nowhere else to turn.

Let's sign this petition and give the old guys a little piece of dignity!!

Members of Men’s Sheds come from all walks of life – the bond that unites them is that they are men with time on their hands and would like something meaningful to do with that time.
A good Men’s Shed has a Management Committee that has developed a safe and happy environment where men are welcome to work on community projects, specific Men’s Shed projects or a project of their choice in their own time and where the only ‘must’ is to observe safe working practices….all in a spirit of mateship.

The Men’s Shed movement has now become one of the most powerful tools in addressing health and wellbeing and helping men to once again become valued and productive members of our community.
