Hasbro: Please Make "Marvel Legends: Gamerverse" Toys From Neversoft's "Spider-Man"
The Issue
In 2000, Neversoft and ActiVision released the video game "Spider-Man" on Sony PlayStation, which was later released on Game Boy Color, Nintendo 64, Mac OS, Microsoft Windows, and Dreamcast. The single player game let gamers play as Spider-Man through various levels and, for the game's story, Spider-Man must clear his name when he is framed for stealing technology from a seemingly reformed Doctor Otto Octavius, also known as the super-villain Doctor Octopus. Several allies appear in the game, including the Black Cat, Daredevil, and the Human Torch, and Spider-Man must face off with such super-villains as the Scorpion, the Rhino, Venom, Mysterio, Doctor Octopus and Carnage. The game's final level is known for introducing Monster Ock, in which Doctor Octopus, nicknamed Doc Ock, is taken over by the red Carnage symbiote. The game also features guest appearances from such super-heroes as Matt Murdock/Daredevil, Johnny Storm/the Human Torch, Frank Castle/the Punisher and Steve Rogers/Captain America. Voice actors from the game include Rino Romano as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Jennifer Hale as Felicia Hardy/the Black Cat and Mary Jane Watson/Parker, Daran Norris as Eddie Brock/Venom, Mac Gargan/the Scorpion and Quentin Beck/Mysterio, Dee Bradley Baker as the Rhino, J. Jonah Jameson, the Lizard and Cletus Kasady/Carnage, and Efrem Zimbalist Jr. as Dr. Otto Octavius/Dr. Octopus. To this day, many gamers consider this to be one of the best Spider-Man video games ever made.
Now that Hasbro is making "Marvel Legends: Gamerverse" action figures, most recently with the two-packs based on Capcom's "Marvel Super Heroes" video game and with the two-pack of the Punisher and Nick Fury from "The Punisher" video arcade game, fans hope that Hasbro will make new action figures of "Spider-Man" based on the 2000 Neversoft game. Among the characters Hasbro could make figures from include Spider-Man, Web Armor Spider-Man, Peter Parker, the Black Cat, J. Jonah Jameson, the Scorpion, the Rhino, Venom, Mary Jane Watson-Parker, Mysterio, Doc Ock with bendable wire tentacles, Carnage, and a Deluxe figure of Monster Ock with bendable wire tentacles. The game also features guest appearances from such super-heroes as Matt Murdock/Daredevil, Johnny Storm/the Human Torch, Frank Castle/the Punisher and Steve Rogers/Captain America. While Hasbro could make figures of the characters as two-packs or as Deluxe figures, such as Monster-Ock, we, the fans, hope Hasbro will make new, non-exclusive figures based on Neversoft's "Spider-Man" video game that are easy to find, on new body molds and have new alternate heads, alternate hands, and accessories included.
