Hartlepool United Fan started this petition to Hartlepool United Football Club

On the 20th of April 2012, Former Sheffield United player Ched Evans was convicted of rape. Two years later following his release, new Hartlepool United manager Ronnie Moore wants to bring this discraceful human back to the sport that would rather see him gone.

I ask you to sign this petition in hopes that the board of Hartlepool United see this, and block any attempt to bring a rapist to the club. Talented or not, this will alienate fans from a club that has already fallen on hard times, and create a very negative stigma for the club, the fans, and the players who have no association with him. Every game will be lit up with chants from opposing fans easily shaming a club that deserves no such stigma.

With a new board and a new manager, I like every other pools fan wants us to have a bright future under new ownership, but signing a player who was proven guilty of rape isn't the way forward. It insults coutnless people who've been victims of sexual assault, and creates a terrible image for the younger fans to follow, and a terrible image for the club no matter where we travel.

We may not be in the best place in terms of performance, but with the January window looming, I think we can find the players to turn the club around, but the convicted rapist Ched Evans isn't the player we need, not now, not ever. We will go through another hundred seasons, and we may end up in the top flight, or in the conference, but being known as the team that signed a rapist won't fade for years.

There's better players out there, who want nothing more than to play football, as honest decent people. Ched Evans isn't one of these people. He's a convicted rapist, and he shouldn't be brought to Hartlepool.
