Harrow council is proposing emergency low traffic neighbourhoods in West Harrow as well as others across the borough.

All London boroughs have been instructed by the Government and TfL to rapidly implement such schemes to enable people to walk and cycle safely, and reduce overcrowding on public transport, during the COVID-19 recovery.

In West Harrow the plan is for point closures to motor traffic on Blenheim Road and at West Harrow station. This will mean that Argyle Road and part of Blenheim Road will be accessed only from Imperial Drive, and people cannot cut through to bypass the Pinner Road / Station Road crossroads. Vaughan Road, Butler Road, Butler Avenue and Drury Road will be accessed only from Whitmore Road or Bessborough Road, so people will not be able to drive through the area to Pinner Road or Imperial Drive.

The scheme will significantly reduce traffic on all the roads in West Harrow that are currently used by through traffic. It will make the streets in West Harrow safer, quieter and more pleasant.

Please add positive comments to the Commonplace consultation website to help ensure the scheme goes ahead: https://harrowstreetspacesproposals.commonplace.is/

It is really important to add your comments because there will inevitably be opposition from some motorists who take short-cuts through the area. The council will take the comments into consideration when designing a permanent scheme, for which there will be a subsequent consultation.

Thank you for your support!
