For over 20 years Hardingstone has been used by bikers young and old. The surroundings at Hardingstone have been looked after and kept free from rubbish by those that use the area while offering a wide variety of people the opportunity to practise their skills, keep fit and create friendships.

Over this time these friendships have grown and now Northampton Mountain bike group is a true representation of the community of mountain bikers, something we should all be proud of! Older cyclists engaging, supporting and guiding the younger generation, while the younger generation is given the opportunity to enjoy and focus on positive, healthy activity and lifestyle, preventing many of them from less desirable distractions that are all too common amongst our young.

Sadly the local council has made the decision to demolish the site, totally destroying the ramps and trails leaving the riders with nowhere to ride! The effects this has on a wider community are obvious, many young people unable to ride on the surrounding roads due to the high level of traffic, no local alternatives available, leaving large groups of young people bored, despondent lingering on street corners. 

As a group, our focus is to work with the council, to create a space designated for mountain biking and to enable this positive, healthy activity to be able to continue, to support the younger generation and to offer this wonderful opportunity to people of all age for many years to come.
