PETITION TO DEFEND THE ENVIRONMENTAL AND CULTURAL RIGHTS OF THE YOREME INDIGENOUS PEOPLE IN MEXICO

WE OPPOSE THE ILLEGAL CONSTRUCTION OF A SWISS-GERMAN FINANCED AMMONIA PLANT IN OHUIRA BAY, SINALOA, MEXICO

We, the undersigned, commit to promoting the sustainable use of indigenous lands based on the principles of nonviolence. We demand that the Mexican government cancel the permits and that the German bank suspend financing for an ammonia plant in Ohuira Bay, Sinaloa, Mexico. This project will endanger the lives of people within a 15 km (9.3 mi) radius, destroy the coastal marine ecosystem, and threaten the ancestral culture of the Yoreme indigenous people.

This plant, promoted by Gas y Petroquímica de Occidente (GPO) of Mexico, a subsidiary of the Swiss-German company PROMAN AG, and financed by the Credit Bank for Reconstruction (KfW) in Germany, aims to produce 2,200 tonnes (2,425 US tons) per day of ammonia, a highly toxic gas.

The construction of this plant will cause an ecocide, human health risk, and a cultural ethnocide for the Yoreme indigenous people who have inhabited the Ohuira Bay for thousands of years.

PETITION ZUR VERTEIDIGUNG DER UMWELT- UND KULTURRECHTE DER YOREME-INDIGENEN VÖLKER IN MEXIKO

WIR WIDERSETZEN UNS GEGEN DEN ILLEGALEN BAU EINER DÜNGEMITTELFABRIK MIT SCHWEIZERISCH-DEUTSCHEM KAPITAL IN DER OHUIRA BUCHT, SINALOA, MEXIKO

Wir, die Unterzeichner, verpflichten uns, die nachhaltige Nutzung des indigenen Territoriums auf der Grundlage der Grundsätze der Gewaltlosigkeit zu fördern, und rufen zu dringenden Maßnahmen auf, um die Annullierung der erteilten Genehmigungen und die Aussetzung der Finanzierung für den Bau einer Ammoniakanlage in der Bucht von Ohuira, Sinaloa, Mexiko, zu erreichen.

Dieses Projekt wird das Leben der Menschen in einem Umkreis von 15 km gefährden, das marine Ökosystem der Küste zerstören und die Kultur des ortsansässigen indigenen Volkes der Yoreme bedrohen.

Ziel dieser Anlage, welche von Gas y Petroquímica de Occidente (GPO) de México, einer Tochtergesellschaft des schweizerisch-deutschen Unternehmens PROMAN AG, gefördert und von der Kreditbank für Wiederaufbau (KfW) in Deutschland finanziert wird ist die Produktion von 2.200 Tonnen Ammoniak pro Tag, einem hochgiftigen Gas.

Der Bau dieser Anlage führt zu einem Ökozid, sowie zu einem kulturellem Ethnozid für das indigene Volk der Yoreme, das seit Tausenden von Jahren in den Gebieten der Ohuira-Bucht lebt. Die Inbetriebnahme der Düngemittelfabrik birgt enorme Risiken für die menschliche Gesundheit der lokalen Bevölkerung.

PETICIÓN PARA DEFENDER LOS DERECHOS AMBIENTALES Y CULTURALES DEL PUEBLO INDIGENA YOREME EN MÉXICO

NOS OPONEMOS A LA CONSTRUCCIÓN ILEGAL DE UNA PLANTA DE AMONÍACO DE CAPITAL SUIZO-ALEMÁN EN LA BAHÍA DE OHUIRA, SINALOA, MÉXICO

Nosotros, los abajo firmantes, nos comprometemos a promover el uso sostenible del territorio indígena desde los principios de no violencia y exigimos la cancelación de los permisos otorgados y suspensión del financiamiento para la construcción de una planta de amoníaco en la Bahía de Ohuira, Sinaloa, México, proyecto que pondrá en riesgo la vida de las personas en un radio de 15 km, destruirá el ecosistema marino-costero y amenazará la cultura ancestral del pueblo indígena Yoreme.

Esta planta, promovida por Gas y Petroquímica de Occidente (GPO) de México, filial de la compañía suizo-alemana, PROMAN AG, y financiada por el Banco de Crédito para la Reconstrucción (KfW) en Alemania, pretende producir 2,200 toneladas diarias de amoniaco, un gas altamente tóxico.

La construcción de esta planta generará un ecocidio, riesgo para la salud humana y un etnocidio cultural para el pueblo originario Yoreme quienes habitan los territorios de la Bahía de Ohuira desde hace miles de años.
