The Trump administration has launched a civil rights investigation into George Mason University, claiming its diversity efforts amount to illegal discrimination. 

In reality, this is a politically motivated attack on programs that support equity and inclusion in higher education.

George Mason is being punished for encouraging diverse hiring, for creating an anti-racism task force, and for trying to ensure that faculty reflect the communities they serve. That’s not discrimination—it’s progress.

We’ve seen this playbook before: use federal power to intimidate public institutions and roll back decades of civil rights advancements.

But we won’t be silent.
