Dollar General has submitted plans to the Planning Board to build one of their stores on the corner of Southwestern Blvd (Route 20) and Heltz Rd.
• Currently there are 4 Dollar General stores under a 5 mile radius of Lake View, another store seems so unnecessary. The homeowners on Heltz Rd have a huge interest in preventing Dollar General from building but the true negative impact will be felt by all Lake View residents.
• This project will require the complete clearing of all trees.
• The design for this store is a cement block building, which is inconsistent with the appearance of our small rural village.
• The store's driveway is planned for Heltz Rd which creates driving hazard for neighbors as well as those who regularly use Heltz Rd. Driver's turning from Southwestern Blvd in either direction as well as the driver's exiting the Dollar General will have difficulty seeing each other due to the angle of the intersecting roads. Dollar General will attract young pedestrians and cyclists from the opposite side of Southwestern (Route 20).
