I had to call 911 on January 8th, 2021 and the officers were wearing blue lives matter symbols. A maple leaf pin with a blue strip and and black and white patch of the Canadian Flag with a blue strip. During this distressing and traumatic situation, these symbols of hate were present, and were worn by people who are suppose to protect all of Halton.

I’ve seen pictures on social media but this was the first time I saw local officers wearing these symbols in real life. 

Chief Tanner has the power to stop his officers, who are wearing hate symbols in response to the black lives matter movement. 

This is not personal expression. These officers are putting these hate symbols on their uniforms. This is unacceptable. We have to call out things like this.

Chief Tanner has a history of being clueless when it comes to matters involving race and making inflammatory comments. Toronto Star Article- Halton police chief
