Halt Warehouse Construction Near Eastlake Elementary School

Halt Warehouse Construction Near Eastlake Elementary School

The Issue

As parents of students attending Eastlake Elementary School in Parsippany-Troy Hills, NJ, and residents of the surrounding area, we are severely concerned about the proposed warehouse development at Lanidex Plaza.

The redevelopment plans were approved for a warehouse and distribution center, and 23 truck loading bays, operating 24/7. This heavy-duty industrial site poses a serious threat to our children's health and the local environment. The noise, will exceed the recommended noise levels, put in place to keep everyone safe. The emissions released, are toxic and carcinogenic. The traffic, is dangerous and alarming. The children's welfare and safety should be put first.

Research has shown that diesel-powered trucks, like the 41 planned to transit daily, emit harmful pollutants like NOx and VOCs, causing toxic smog and particulates which have been linked to serious health issues including asthma, cancer, and learning disabilities. The proposed warehouse is perilously close to Eastlake Elementary School - a mere 200 feet away - putting our children directly in harm's way.

Moreover, the excessive trucking activity will greatly exacerbate traffic congestion in our residential streets. Predictions indicate that every 15 minutes, 8 trucks or more will be jamming our roads, around the clock.

We are not opposed to economic development. But we firmly believe there are numerous other places this warehouse could be built without it having such destructive impact on our peaceful community and critical educational institutions.

We urge the town officials to reconsider the proposed warehouse location or halt its construction indefinitely. Please, protect our children's health, our community's peace and tranquility. Sign this petition to say no to the warehouse development at Lanidex Plaza.

THE TOWN PLANNING BOARD IS HEADING THE PUBLIC AND COMMUNITIES STANCE AT THE PUBLIC HEARING ON MONDAY JULY 22nd at 7:30pm, PARSIPPANY TOWN HALL, please- SHOW UP TO SUPPORT THE COMMUNITY AND SPEAK YOUR VOICE- SAY NO TO THE WAREHOUSE. OUR CHILDRENS FUTURE AND HEALTH DEPEND ON YOU. SEE YOU THERE! MONDAY, this monday July 22nd, at 7:30pm, and if you can’t make it, please sign the petition, or both!! Thank you!! We truly can’t do this with out you! Neighbors!
