Halt U.S. Weapon and Aid Supply to Israel for Actions in Gaza and Lebanon

The Issue

The tragedies unfolding in Gaza and Lebanon, resulting in the loss of countless innocent lives and the decimation of entire neighborhoods, deeply pain me. As a concerned citizen, I am dismayed by the direct involvement of the United States government in these crises. It is widely known that our country provides substantial weapons and aid to Israel, which are subsequently used in these devastating conflicts. I am compelled to address this issue not only because it affects human lives but also because it directly implicates our government, thus implicating us, in this cycle of violence.

The U.S. military aid to Israel stands at nearly $3.8 billion annually, as of 2020 (Foreign Policy), with a significant part allocated to weaponry. This aid has allowed for the proliferation of warfare that has left thousands of innocent civilians dead. The current administration has maintained an iron-clad stance on Israel’s right to defend itself, rather than equally advocating for the conservation of life and humanitarian rights. It's undoubtedly a complex issue, but change and discussion must start somewhere.

It is time for the United States to reconsider its policies that enable and perpetuate this cycle of violence. We call for the immediate cease of weapon and aid supply to Israel that are used for detrimental actions against civilians in Gaza and Lebanon, and urge our government to prioritize diplomacy and peacebuilding efforts in the region and stand in support of human rights over political gains. Make your voice heard and refuse to standby as these atrocities continue. Please, sign this petition today.
