Our rural community in Memphis, IN, is under threat AGAIN from a proposal for construction of four, 3-story, apartment buildings with 24 units each. This use variance would directly clash with the character of our predominantly single-family residence area. Memphis is a town with a scarce population, where open space, tranquility, and the rural aesthetic are greatly valued. The construction of apartment complexes would not only tarnish these characteristic values, but also present potential strains on existing infrastructure and resources. Therefore, we urge the board of zoning appeals to review this application and prioritize the preservation of our cherished rural ambiance.
