As ordinary residents of The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, we find ourselves in the midst of an unjust and unreasonable situation. A proposed 25% increase in council tax has been imposed on us, further pressurising residents already grappling with a cost of living crisis. As a community, we express our deep dismay towards this unfair proposal. 

This 25% increase is not merely a number - it represents a significant financial burden on families and individuals. Comparatively, the average council tax increase across the UK was 4.5% in 2020/2021 (source: Institute for Fiscal Studies). This shows how our situation is profoundly uncharacteristic and unjustifiable.

Alternate avenues of funding for council spending must be explored to alleviate this unfair tax burden on residents. As an engaged and active community, we demand that The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead Council reconsider this proposal and instead, explore new alternatives of revenue generation that do not compromise the economic wellbeing of its residents.
