Halt the Fraudulent Asylum Application of Kesete Fessehatsyon
Halt the Fraudulent Asylum Application of Kesete Fessehatsyon
The Issue
The Honorable Minister for Immigration, Citizenship, and Multicultural Affairs, Peter Dutton
We, the people, are writing to respectfully petition for the immediate cessation of the asylum application submitted by Kesete Fessehatsyon.
Kesete Fessehatsyon arrived in Australia in 2019 under a Temporary Activity (Subclass 408) Visa in the religious worker stream, sponsored by the Eritrean Orthodox Church in Perth, Western Australia. Mr. Fessehatsyon’s visa was granted for the specific purpose of fulfilling religious duties in Australia. However, he has recently applied for asylum, making a series of false and misleading claims about his situation in Eritrea, his family, and his activities in Australia.
1. Misrepresentation of Immigration Status
Mr. Fessehatsyon entered Australia on a visa with specific conditions, including religious work, but has applied for a protection visa under false pretenses, contradicting the purpose of his original visa.
2. False Claims of Persecution in Eritrea
Mr. Fessehatsyon asserts that he faces religious and political persecution in Eritrea. However, prior to his arrival in Australia, he served as a religious leader in Eritrea without any evidence of government persecution. His claims appear to be fabricated to bolster his application for permanent residency.
3. Contradictions in Family Persecution Claims
He alleges that his wife has been detained in Eritrea due to his views, yet he has also stated that his wife and children remain unharmed in Eritrea. There is no official record or credible evidence to support these allegations.
4. Unsubstantiated Church Work Claims
Mr. Fessehatsyon claims to be providing full-time pastoral care, but his involvement in church activities has been questionable, as he has been involved in internal disputes that have divided the church community.
5. Violation of Sponsorship Trust
The church and its community trusted Mr. Fessehatsyon’s intentions when sponsoring his entry into Australia. However, he has breached this trust by seeking permanent residency under false pretenses, undermining the credibility of future religious visa applicants.
6. Lack of Evidence of Political Activism
Mr. Fessehatsyon now claims to have been politically active against the Eritrean government, yet no records support this assertion, raising doubts about the validity of his claims of political persecution.
Given the numerous inconsistencies, contradictions, and lack of supporting evidence, we call upon the relevant authorities to halt the asylum application of Kesete Fessehatsyon and conduct a thorough investigation into the veracity of his claims. His application is damaging to the integrity of the asylum process and sets a dangerous precedent for future fraudulent applications.
We urge the Honorable Minister for Immigration, Citizenship, and Multicultural Affairs, Peter Dutton, to take immediate action in addressing this matter and ensure that individuals who misrepresent their status and intentions do not undermine Australia’s immigration and asylum systems.
