Halt the felling of 628 trees in Oklipuram, Reshme Bhavan, Bengaluru
The Issue
Save Trees, Save Bengaluru We are deeply disturbed with the planned felling of trees and lush greenery of Bengaluru. It is disheartening to learn about Public Notice No. DCF-681, dated 18 February 2026, which proposes the felling of 628 trees in Oklipuram. This decision threatens not only our rich biodiversity but also poses a significant risk to our urban environment with lasting repercussions on the health and well-being of our community.
Trees are vital to our ecosystem. They clean the air, provide habitat for countless species, and help regulate the climate. Bengaluru, which has long been known as the Garden City, risks losing what makes it unique with decisions like these. Urban development is necessary, but it shouldn’t come at the expense of our ecological wealth. Our environment is our responsibility and preserving it for future generations should be a priority.
Instead of cutting down these precious trees, there must be consideration of alternative solutions. Possible options include utilizing existing government premises in Ramanagaram closer to silk farmers as a suitable alternative. This latter option not only prevents ecological damage but also supports silk farmers in the region, benefiting the local economy.
We urgently call upon the authorities to halt the planned felling and to commit to exploring environmentally friendly alternatives. By making choices that respect nature, we can ensure the well-being of both our urban and rural communities. Your voice matters Help us by signing this petition, so we can make a difference for the environment and ourselves. Together, we can pave the way for a sustainable future in Bengaluru. Please sign our petition to stop the felling of these trees and protect our rightful green legacy.
