Our campaign has reached a critical stage. We have just days left to persuade the Federal government to preserve the Greater Glider Forest and rule against its absurd destruction.
Hello, it’s been awhile since I updated you. Hopefully you are keeping well and have been following us on social media. We have been working every day to save this habitat.
Thank you so much for standing up with us last year when we learned that the building company, Ozy Homes, was planning to bulldoze this rare forest ecosystem that my fellow fire fighters saved from the Black Summer fires
Because of your support, the Federal Environment Minister, Sussan Ley, agreed to consider Ozy Homes project under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act. This forced Ozy Homes to send in extra paperwork so they can justify the destruction of the forest. This part of the process has finished. We need your help again.
The Minister is making her decision right now.
Scientific surveys are reporting ecological collapse here which is a terrible grief. Hard to wrap your head around. The loss of the Greater Glider population at Murramarang, not far from here, was a dreadful reality check. From what I saw of the fires, I have no doubt.
In the midst of this environmental disaster and ecological collapse, the idea that anyone could be allowed to destroy these last bastions of biodiversity full of native plants, animals and endangered species must be seen as an utter failure of governance for our future and the environment. Where are the ethics? What right do they have to do this?
And so we need your help again.
Help us save the Greater Glider and other endangered species by writing an email saying why this forest needs protection. Then send it to contact@manyanaestate.com and -VERY IMPORTANTLY, cc, nsw.enquiries@environment.gov.au with 'Manyana Submission' in the subject line by 16 July.
This is not just a battle for the life of this forest, or the Greater Glider, it is a battle for our ethics and future.
Thank you for taking an interest in our fight to preserve this forest and all the species that rely on it.
To stay up to date with information and links follow #ManyanaMatters on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter. And we’d love it if you could share all this with your family, friends and networks.
Warmest regards,
Bill Eger.
