Halt the Construction of the New Drive-through and Other Units at the Morrisons Carpark

Halt the Construction of the New Drive-through and Other Units at the Morrisons Carpark
The Issue
Droitwich has always been a tranquil and inviting place. Small enough to maintain its charm, but large enough to provide for its residents. I've watched our town grow over the years, and the importance of its careful development has never been clearer. The recent plans to expand the Morrisons carpark with a new drive-through and other units are a cause of great concern for me. Our town's traffic management system is simply not equipped to handle the significant increase in vehicles this development would bring.
The traffic management within our town was designed based on older data, with far fewer cars and less busy periods being taken into account. With our current traffic congestion ranking in the 60th percentile nationally (source: UK National Traffic Survey), any increase in vehicle traffic could exacerbate the situation, possibly deterring shoppers from visiting our town's precinct. The already strained infrastructure and potential negative impact on our local economy make this a matter of urgent public interest.
Along with supporting the local community, Morrisons has a corporate responsibility to contribute to sustainable and acceptable urban development. However, if the current plans go ahead, we could see detrimental effects on our town's traffic flow, environment, and economy. For these reasons, we insist on a halt to the projected development. The interests of our community must be prioritized.
Ending this isn't just critical for me and my fellow town dwellers, it's crucial for future generations who will inherit the challenges we leave behind. I urge you to sign this petition and contribute to creating a sustainable community that encourages, not discourages, our local precinct shoppers.
