I am writing as a resident and taxpayer of Arnold, MO, USA, imploring you to understand the impending realities of the Arnold Parkway project. As a local who regularly invests in our economy, I see firsthand how this development could drastically alter our community's landscape. This planned construction threatens not only our local small businesses and homeowners along the proposed route, but the citizens who are expected to finance it i.e anyone who shops in Arnold. According to Arnold Retail Corridor Transportation Development District (ARC TDD), which was established in 2008 it was intended to fund infrastructure related to the development of the Arnold Commons retail complex and the redevelopment of the Arnold Crossroad complex. Arnold city attorney, Bob Sweeney, has gone on record stating “The storage facility will go away. We will purchase or take them.” This is a gross overreach of eminent domain and is a clear message to our community that the best interest for the residents and businesses don’t matter. By stopping the Arnold Parkway project, we are choosing to make clear that the rights of small businesses and residents will be taken seriously. Out of respect for our livelihood, our community, and our future as residents of Arnold, MO, I implore you to sign this petition to halt the construction of the Arnold Parkway project.
