A serious accident involved an 18-wheeler very close to the proposed warehouse. The incident occurred at the intersection of Rt. 44/55 and Rt. 32, near the Hannaford parking lot. The truck tried to navigate the right-hand turn at the traffic light and rode up on the curb coming dangerously close to the front porch and walkway of an adjacent apartment building. In the process, it also knocked down a power line pole. If anyone had been nearby or a child had been playing in the front yard.. the outcome could have been much worse. This incident provides further evidence that our safety concerns are indeed valid. The town and the surrounding areas are not equipped to handle this type of traffic.
