I am a resident of East Franklin Township in Kittanning, PA and live right across the street from where our local government plans to erect a 200 feet tall wireless communications facility (cell tower). The news came as a shock to me and many others in our community. Our township is prioritizing financial gain over the well-being of its residents by leasing township property for this cell tower. 

Cell towers can have negative impacts on both human health and property values.  Studies have shown potential links between long-term exposure to the electromagnetic fields produced by these towers and various health problems (World Health Organization). Additionally, properties near cell towers often see decreased value due to aesthetic concerns and perceived health risks (National Association of Realtors).

Our local government should be safeguarding our interests, not compromising them for profit. We urge East Franklin Township Supervisors to reconsider this decision, prioritize its citizens' welfare over financial gain, and halt the construction of this communications facility.
