Halt the Construction of a 43-Storey High Rise at 86 Lynn Williams

The Issue

I am a resident of Liberty Village, Old Toronto, and like many others in our community, I believe that our neighborhood is already densely populated. The proposed construction of a 43-storey high rise at 86 Lynn Williams threatens to exacerbate this problem.

Liberty Village is known for its unique blend of residential and commercial spaces nestled within historic buildings. However, the current density in Liberty Village has reached its limit. According to Statistics Canada's latest data, Toronto's population density stands at about 4,334 people per square kilometer (2016 Census), making it one of the most densely populated cities in Canada.

Adding another high-rise building will not only increase this density but will also reduce green spaces which are essential for our well-being and mental health. Green spaces are not just aesthetic elements; they provide significant environmental benefits such as improving air quality and reducing urban heat effects.

We need more green space in Liberty Village - not less. We need areas where we can breathe freely without feeling boxed into concrete structures towering over us.

I urge you to consider the impact on our community before approving further construction projects that could negatively affect our quality of life. Let's prioritize sustainable development that respects both the needs of residents and environmental considerations.

Please sign this petition to halt the construction of a new high-rise building at 86 Lynn Williams Street and support efforts to maintain green space in Liberty Village instead.
