The Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) is proposing to implement a cable car system at the Sabarimala Temple, disturbing the age-old tradition and belief of Ayyappa devotees. This move seems like a humanitarian effort at first glance, yet undermines the sacred journey that millions of pilgrims undertake each year—a trek through the forest path symbolizing a journey of personal growth and spiritual discovery. This journey is seen as an integral part of the pilgrimage, and the suggestion of the cable car system is troubling for many. The sanctity of the Sabarimala Shrine must be preserved. Respect the sentiments of millions of Ayyappa devotees worldwide.
