Halt Animal Abuse and Medical Neglect at Our Local Shelters

Halt Animal Abuse and Medical Neglect at Our Local Shelters
The Issue
Please scroll to the bottom to read the specifics of the abuse happening at our shelter. Please note that the specifics are sensitive in nature and might offend and/or traumatize
I am a concerned citizen of Hesperia, CA, USA. I have witnessed firsthand the horrifying conditions in our local animal shelter. Animals are being adopted out while sick, unaltered, and unlicensed. The personnel hired to care for these animals often lack any background or licenses in animal care. They perform duties they are not legally allowed to do.
The abuse doesn't stop there; illegal euthanasias are being performed by unlicensed staff members. Class 5 scheduled drugs, which should be handled with utmost caution and professionalism, are mishandled and improperly stored or discarded of.
Our shelter is not just failing these animals; it's breaking the law.
The financial aspect of this operation is also concerning as funds seem to be mismanaged. But what hurts most is seeing these innocent creatures suffer in pain without any medical attention or care.
This situation cannot continue unchecked - we must demand better for our community's animals! We call on our local government officials to investigate this matter thoroughly and take immediate action against those responsible for such gross misconduct.
San Bernardino county desperately needs an SPCA to oversee our city shelters! Without an organization holding shelters accountable, these wrongdoings will continue to happen and innocent animals will continue to suffer and die in the hands of monsters!
The following might be sensitive in nature.
Alfie (not pictured due to being too graphic) was an 8 year old German Shephard who was found out in the desert with deep lacerations to his head and face from being mauled by either wild dogs, or coyotes. He was brought to the veterinarian's by the animal control officer where they prescribed him ointment for his eye and a 7 day course of antibiotics. (Per records request) He was then taken to the shelter where his agony was just about to begin. This is where I came into the picture. I visited the shelter and saw this poor senior dog suffering in the most unimaginable way. He was completely blinded by a severe infection to his left eye. He was in utter pain crying and circling in his 4 foot by 5 food cage. I immediately inquired about him and his horrible condition and none of the staff up front knew who or what I was talking about. Per records request, Alfie was never administered his prescribed medication. He was never attended to and was left to suffer in his cage for 3 months. I left the shelter horrified and immediately contacted the mayor of Hesperia. Mayor Larry Bird let me know that he would be looking into the situation immediately. I also contacted a rescue to have him pulled and I let the shelter staff know that someone would be there after the weekend to take him. The following day I received an email from the city manager saying that a vet saw him through video chat and said he had a possible auto immune disease. This was not true. They failed to see that he had already been seen by a vet the day he was picked up by an ACO. Alfie was euthanized the day after I reported his abuse to the city government. The rescue went in to pull Alfie the following day. He had already been killed. Alfie suffered a slow agonizing ordeal for 3 long months before his life was taken away.
This is just one example of the numerous atrocity’s that continue and will continue to happen if we don’t take a stand to this. Please sign this petition and share with everyone you know. And, I thank you. You are appreciated by myself, our homeless animals, and everyone who is involved in bringing this to fruition.
Please sign this petition if you believe that every animal deserves respect, proper medical attention, decent living conditions and a chance at a loving home!
