I as a student at Mamre, and a person outside of it, know how important it is to express our identities. I believe that we can express ourselves through many simple ways. The most simple ways are through our hair and our accessories. 

As a person with curly hair, I love to express and maintain them to keep them healthy. However, it’s very hard to do so when my hair is restricted in a ponytail. It’s uncomfortable, messy, bad for my hair type, and definitely more distracting than just having my hair down since I’m constantly worrying about the ponytail and if it looks good. I’m sure many other people with curly hair will agree, even people with straight or wavy hair. 

Even our accessories can show a lot about who we are as a person. Piercings and bracelets are a great way to show this. Personally, I don’t think it makes a difference if a person is wearing two small studs. It looks quite nice, actually. Even small bracelets. Bracelets are a simple and small way to show many things about us, like our beliefs. Nothing looks better than the sign of Cross on somebody’s else wrist. It’s also a beautiful way to remind someone that Our Lord is always with us. Even with Europeans and their Evil Eyes. 

I, Amelia Marrone, truly and genuinely believe that girls should be allowed to wear nice half up-half downs. I also believe that both boys and girls should be allowed to wear small double lobe piercings and bracelets.
