The Issue

Rydym yn gofyn i’r cyngor ailystyried y cynnig i gau Ysgol Gynradd Baladeulyn ar sail effaith addysgol, gymunedol a ieithyddol hirdymor.

Er ein bod yn cydnabod y pwysau ariannol sydd ar awdurdodau lleol, credwn fod angen rhoi pwysau cyfartal ar les disgyblion, cynaliadwyedd cymunedau gwledig, a chyfraniad ysgolion Cymraeg at nodau strategol Cymru.

Mae ysgolion fel Baladeulyn yn darparu mwy na gwasanaeth addysgol yn unig. Maent yn ganolfannau cymunedol pwysig ac yn cyfrannu’n uniongyrchol at gynnal y Gymraeg fel iaith fyw yn y gymuned. Dylid rhoi ystyriaeth lawn i hyn wrth asesu unrhyw gynnig cau.

Rydym hefyd yn pryderu am effaith bosibl teithio pellach ar blant ifanc, yn ogystal â’r effaith ar deuluoedd lleol a deniadoldeb yr ardal i deuluoedd newydd yn y dyfodol.

Rydym yn gofyn a yw pob opsiwn realistig arall wedi cael ei archwilio’n llawn, gan gynnwys ffederaleiddio, rhannu adnoddau, neu drefniadau cydweithredol gydag ysgolion eraill.

Unwaith y bydd ysgol wledig yn cau, mae’r effaith yn aml yn anodd ei gwrthdroi. Felly rydym yn annog y cyngor i gymryd ymagwedd ofalus, gymesur a hirdymor cyn gwneud penderfyniad terfynol.

-Cadeirydd Llywodraethwyr Ysgol Baladeulyn, Ffion Jones.

Ysgol Baladeulyn in Gwynedd is more than just a building where our children attend classes; it is the heart of the community. For generations, it has fostered educational excellence, cultural heritage, and community spirit. In recent decisions, Cyngor Gwynedd has determined that closing Ysgol Baladeulyn is necessary. While cost-cutting measures may seem beneficial in the short term, the long-term effects on our community, our children, and our culture could be irreversibly damaging.

Ysgol Baladeulyn provides not only quality education but also a unique cultural environment where the Welsh language and traditions are upheld and celebrated daily. Closing this invaluable institution threatens to erode our cultural identity and disband a crucial community hub. The closure would mean that our children will have to travel long distances to other schools, which presents potential safety hazards and diminishes their quality of life.

Historically, schools like Ysgol Baladeulyn often serve as community centres that offer communal activities, thus enhancing social cohesion. Losing it would mean losing a place where children not only learn but also grow as part of a tight-knit community. Moreover, local businesses that benefit from the day-to-day operations of the school would undoubtedly face repercussions, leading to broader economic challenges in the region.

We recognize the financial challenges Cyngor Gwynedd faces but firmly believe that alternative solutions exist. We ask whether all other realistic options have been fully explored, including federalisation, resource sharing, or collaborative arrangements with other schools.

By signing this petition, you are advocating for the preservation of Ysgol Baladeulyn and the community's future. Let's work together to show Cyngor Gwynedd that our school is more than just a classroom—it's our home. Please stand with us to oppose the closure of Ysgol Baladeulyn and help secure a future for our children and our community.
