Hi all

This is a very important matter, and we need several people signing it.

Due to rampant construction and development of real estate, most of the cities have lost their natural water bodies.

The increased burden on these areas is depleting the underground water levels too in an alarming way.

The same is true for the city Gurugram in the state of Haryana, India. Gurugram has lost all its water bodies and natural green landscape and increasingly losing nearly all of its farming land for the want of more place to construct buildings.

This city isn't that far from Rajasthan and so it experiences intense arrid weather. While it's neighbouring cities like Delhi, Ghaziabad and Noida receive the rains (they have rivers going across it), Gurugram is left dry.

Few decades back, Gurgaon had dams to control the rain water from flowing into the residences. Now, in case it rains too hard, there isn't any way for the water to flow out of the city or prevent it from flooding the residences, since everywhere there's just buildings now.

It's high time that the government notices the same. Therefore, it's a humble request to construct small artificial lakes, wherever possible to save the environment and conditions of Gurugram.

Can something be constructed on the lines of artificial lakes like Hussain Sagar Lake of Hyderabad or Kankaria lake of Ahmedabad which are sourced from and connected to rivers and stormwater drains or smaller lakes on similar lines? Haryana state has a few rivers flowing through it, the inlet and outlet can be planned hopefully.I

'm sure Gurgaon can work towards it too.

The real estate companies/corporates can take it as a CSR activity to maintain it wrt to cleanliness, desilting, recycling, hygiene etc

We need water. Trees need water. Ground needs water. Birds and animals need water. Water is survival. Groundwater is a key factor for sustainability of plantation drives

Please do something about it urgently.

Best regards
