CHIME ALONG MY CAUSE….. I firmly believe that Christmas is a festival of sharing and spreading happiness. To different people, happiness has different meanings. We all are happy receiving gifts, but to me, happiness is all about sharing with people who don't have enough. This entire year, I had conducted puberty workshops in various Municipal schools in Mumbai. During these workshops, I discovered that these girls were denied their basic rights of having sanitary napkins. I realized how fortunate I am to have all my hygiene needs met with. At that point I decided that my new year’s resolution is to provide some of these girls with hygiene kits. I raised funds to provide these girls with puberty kits by selling homemade cupcakes and chimes using some old beads that I found at home. This not only helped me raise funds but I also did it with the environment in mind. I tied up with an organization called ProjectBaala. They make sanitary napkins that last for at least two years and are properly sanitized and sell them at the price of 3 for rupees 190. I raised rupees 10,000 which was a huge number and took me by surprise too! I intend on continuing this small project that I have started and continue having fundraisers!
